Tuesday, June 24, 2025, we worked on ladies’ chain and grand chain and the timing of each, plus thinking about how figures flow from one to the other in a dance. We did two dances from the Jink and Diddle program and repeated some dances from previous classes.

Tuesday, June 17, 2025, Noel Chávez taught the class and worked on various forms of reels of 3 including closing reels (6-bar reels on the sides). There were a couple of classic dances and a fun reel in a square set.

Tuesday, June 10, 2025, the new dancers joined the regular class and we did dances that included many of the figures they’d learned since they started last Fall. They did very well and we will review a couple of figures and introduce a couple more over the summer. Figures we reviewed were rights and lefts, circles, hands across, figures of 8, double figures of 8, reels of 3 and 4, ladies’ chain, grand chain, corners pass and turn, advance and retire, double triangles, and the quicktime poussette.

Tuesday, June 3, 2025, Mady Newfield worked on traveling step practice and Noel Chávez introduced the figure corners pass and turn in strathspey time. In the regular class we danced five dances with corners pass and turn, including one from the MSW Friday dance program. We then reviewed four other dances from the MSW dance programs. Next week we return to having only the regular class starting at 7:30 p.m. with the new dancers joining the regular class.
